Waiting No Problem for Perez
Just getting to the Olympics -- let alone getting to be able to represent the United States -- has been a long waiting process for Angel Perez. Waiting six hours to compete in the two-man 500-meter kayak event because of high winds, therefore, is quite bearable. Perez and partner Peter Newton took sixth in their event as all the finals were delayed. Nothing has been able to stop Birgit Fischer of Germany, however, as she won her seventh gold medal since 1980.
• Perez helps U.S. squad to sixth place
• Doktor gets a reprieve to race again
• Out for a workout, Jorgensen instead makes semis
• Olympics don't end as well as they start for Meidl
• Shipley loses out in another attempt at gold
