Russia's Shilov banned for doping

MOSCOW -- Former Russian cycling champion
Sergei Shilov has been banned for two years after failing a
drug test, the Russian cycling federation said Friday.

The RCF said Shilov, 22, who won a national title in a team
time trial in 2006, tested positive for the banned stimulant
carphedon in January this year.

Carphedon has been used by a number of Russian athletes in
the past, including 2002 Olympic biathlon champion Olga Pyleva, who served a two-year ban after testing positive at the 2006 Olympic Games at Turin.
