Snowboard races canceled in Sochi

SOCHI, Russia -- Snowboard World Cup races at the Sochi Olympic venue have been canceled by because of warm weather.

Organizers first postponed the parallel slalom races for an hour on Friday at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park then canceled them because of deteriorating snow conditions.

In Thursday's races, snowboarders struggled on an icy and bumpy course but the snow became more loose on Friday.

Unusually warm weather earlier in the week also forced the cancellation of slopestyle races.

It was not immediately clear if snowboardcross, scheduled for this weekend, will be held.
