Russia finishes sweep of synchro golds

SHANGHAI -- Russia has completed a gold-medal sweep of all seven events at the synchronized swimming world championships, winning the final event -- the team free -- to give Natalia Ishchenko her sixth gold.

Russia's eight-woman team including Ishchenko scored 98.620 points Saturday. China was second with 96.580 and Spain took the bronze.

Ishchenko won two team medals with Russia and four other events -- solo technical, solo free, duet technical and duet free. Russia also won the only event that Ishchenko didn't compete in, the team technical.

The 25-year-old Ishchenko has 16 world championship gold medals and a team gold with Russia at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
