Bob Bowman, Dave Salo to coach U.S.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Bob Bowman will coach the U.S. men's team and Dave Salo will guide the women's team at this summer's world swimming championships in Barcelona, Spain.

Bowman coached Michael Phelps to becoming the most decorated Olympian ever with 22 medals. He was an assistant on the U.S. men's team for the London Games and the head men's coach at the 2007 and 2009 world championships.

Salo is a three-time U.S. Olympic team assistant who currently coaches at Southern California. His group of Olympic medalists includes Rebecca Soni, Jessica Hardy, Eric Shanteau, Ricky Berens and Haley Anderson.

Catherine Vogt will coach the U.S. open water swimmers in Barcelona. She is an assistant on Salo's staff at USC and worked with Tunisia's Olympic swimmers at the London Games. She was head coach of the U.S. open water team at the 2009 world meet.

The world championships will be July 19-Aug. 4.
