One Chilean to attend closing ceremony

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- All but one member of Chile's Winter Olympics delegation planned to skip the closing ceremonies following a magnitude-8.8 earthquake that has devastated their country.

The only exception is skier Noelle Barahona, who was planning on going home Saturday, but couldn't get a flight. She is sticking around for the closing ceremony after learning her family was safe following the massive earthquake in her country.

The rest of the delegation still in Vancouver includes a team spokesman and a physical therapist; they both also heard that family and friends are OK.

Chile had three Alpine skiers at the Games. In addition to Barahona, Maui Gayme and Jorge Mandru are all finished competing, so they won't miss any remaining events. The two Olympians already had left Vancouver, one to France and the other to Seattle.
