TORONTO -- Canadian Football League commissioner Michael Lysko was fired after 15 months on the job. The CFL said Wednesday all nine of the league's governors voted in favor of dismissal Tuesday night. Board chairman David Braley will replace Lysko as commissioner until a successor is chosen. No timetable was set for the hiring. Lysko is the only CFL commissioner ever dismissed by the board. Three others -- Keith Davey in 1967, Bill Baker in 1989 and Donald Crump in 1991 -- resigned before completing their term. Lysko and the league governors clashed March 8 when the Toronto Star ran a story in which Lysko made disparaging remarks about the Toronto Argonauts and their decision to hire former entertainment mogul Garth Drabinsky as a consultant. Lysko was hired in the fall of 2000, replacing Jeff Giles. He was acknowledged for his marketing skills but angered league officials with his outspokenness.
