BASS has not held a professional level tournament on the Kissimmee Chain since the 2006 Bassmaster Classic, but that's where the Citrus Slam, hosted by the Polk County Sports Marketing and Camp Mack River Resort, will be fished in 2008. Luke Clausen won that Classic with a record weight of 56-2 over three days.
That Classic's weights would have been much higher with better weather. Mid-March in Central Florida is usually beautiful, and the Kissimmee Chain in particular Lake Tohopekaliga has produced some of the best catches in BASS history, including Dean Rojas' record five bass catch in 2001 weighing 45-2 (he won the four-day event with 108-12). That came a little earlier in the year than the Citrus Slam, but there are plenty of giant bass in the Kissimmee Chain all year long.
