Two years ago, BASS and the Elite Series traveled to the Texas-Mexico border and Lake Amistad for the first time. The results were fantastic. In two Elite Series events, it has taken better than 100 pounds to win on Amistad, and Falcon Lake has the reputation of being even better.
Along with the fame gained from incredible results, Amistad earned additional fishing pressure that has made the bass fishing more challenging. Falcon is still largely unknown to all but the most serious anglers, and the fish have little pressure. Covering 78,300 acres, Falcon was built on the Rio Grande in 1954. Elite Series pros like Alton Jones have long raved that Falcon is even better than Amistad, and most believe triple digit catches will be necessary to have a chance to win the Lone Star Shootout, April 3-6.
