The Spanish Fly: Tarpon fishing in Florida

The 12th year of the Spanish Fly with Jose Wejebe begins this weekend on ESPN2 and headlines an all new Saltwater Sunday show lineup.

Each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. EST, Wejebe will take the Spanish Fly audience adventuring to some of the best fishing destinations in the world. This season is captured in full High Definition for the first time and many of the locations bring much more than just epic fishing action.

Whether its topwater tunas in Panama, Sailfish attacking baitballs in Mexico, searching for blue marlin in the Bahamas, or flyfishing tarpon in the Florida Keys, the Spanish Fly brings documentary-style travel adventure with cinematic music to the ESPN network each Sunday.

The first adventure of the year returns Wejebe to the Florida backcountry with long time friend Rob Fordyce to search for tarpon on the fly.

Fishing both shallow and deeper waters give them a chance to adapt to the conditions and get hooked up with several acrobatic tarpon. The main lesson learned is to have patience and not chase the fish. But instead, pick your spots and times correctly, and listen to what the fish are telling you.

Incredible footage of launching tarpon action highlight the first show of the series.
