espn.com Ali Contest
Anybody can look back at the Year in Sports -- the birth (and death) of the XFL, the coming (and going) of Danny Almonte and George O'Leary, Bud Selig and his own brand of foot-in-mouth disease. It takes a truly twisted mind to remind us of what we think happened in 2001 ... but actually didn't -- a mind like the one belonging to Page 2's Jim Caple. CAPLE: THE 2001 ODYSSEY

Page 2 sent the Sports Guy to Houston to cover the Galleryfurniture.com Bowl (don't ask us why). But unfortunately, thanks to an airplane journey from hell, he didn't get there in time to regale us with pregame tales. Instead, he was forced to fall back on his last refuge -- a column written almost entirely by his readers. However, our man did find time to write up his own NFL picks for Week 16.

Digging Chick Sportoon
For 36 years, up until his recent open-heart surgery, Chick Hearn never missed a Lakers game. Now that Hearn's distinctive sound is no longer coming out of radios throughout the L.A. area, Page 2's Eric Neel realizes that something important is missing from his life -- and the life of his disconnected city.
And you thought you were miserable, waiting in line at the mall for two hours to return that awful angora sweater that Aunt Edna bought you. Trust us, that's nothing compared to some of the items that are being returned in the NFL. In this week's Sportoon, Page 2's Kurt Snibbe looks at the rejects of the football world.

Our look back at the year in sports continues with Page 2 readers' choices for the dumbest moves of 2001. Check out the list and Page 2 editors' choices for the 10 worst moves, then vote in the poll to name the year's dumbest move.
