For some, it's the beginning of the NFL season ... or Opening Day ... or the Big Dance ... or the beginning of the endless indoor pro playoffs. For Page 2's Brian Murphy, it's the start of college football season, when we can watch wall-to-wall amateur grid action from our easy chairs, while celebrating our long-lost youth.

It lasted longer than an Oscars telecast and featured even more awards. Page 2's Sports Movies Week honored the Top 20 sports flicks ever made and also fingered the 10 worst films. We asked our readers to vote for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Moment, and we doled out awards in some "lesser" categories. We even pondered why we're so drawn to sports movies in the first place.

10 Burning Questions Bob Halloran
Spike Lee is a filmmaker by day and the nation's No. 1 sports fan by night. So, who could possibly be better to discuss the best and worst sports movies with Page 2? We caught up with Spike for "10 Burning Questions" and asked him about "Hoosiers," "He Got Game" and a lot more.
"It's never iffy if it's Griffey!" You've probably seen Kenny Mayne's "This is SportsCenter" commercial, but do you know how ESPN anchors really come up with their home-run calls? Page 2's Bob Halloran provides the answer, so "bring him the finest meats and cheeses."

WIN, LOSE OR DRAW
Finally, we have peace in our time! The owners and players have agreed not to kill Major League Baseball ... at least until 2006. Page 2 cartoonist Larry Johnson captured the scene as the deal was finally reached in New York.

With college football in full swing, Page 2 has decided to list our picks for the top 10 teams of all time. After checking out our list, drop us a note with your choice for the best college football team ever. We'll then compile our readers' list along with a poll to crown the greatest college football team of all time.

10]  Alabama (1961)
Alabama went 11-0 in 1961, racking up 297 points and allowing only 25.
9]  Oklahoma (1974)
The Sooners dominated college football in 1973 and 1974, going 21-0-1 ... but we give the '74 squad the nod because they won their first national title under coach Barry Switzer.
8]  Oklahoma (1956)
Bud Wilkinson's 1956 squad was in the middle of a 47-game winning streak.
7]  Notre Dame (1947)
Notre Dame finished its undefeated season by trouncing USC 38-7 at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, and 41 of the Irish went on to play pro ball.
