In the opinion of many -- including Page 2's Ralph Wiley -- Venus Williams is the most talented woman tennis player ever. So how come she only has four Grand Slam titles? Wiley says it's because she's chosen another court to be the ultimate winner -- as nurturer and protector of her family ... particularly her "little" sister, Serena.

10 Burning Questions The Sports Guy
The fortunes of the San Diego Chargers seem to be on the rise, but a lot will depend on how well the Kid (QB Drew Brees) connects with the Old Timer (10-year veteran receiver Curtis Conway). Page 2 lobbed a few long bombs -- 10 Burning Questions, to be exact -- in Conway's direction ... and we can tell you that the old dude still seems pretty frisky.
Fantasy football is for the young ... or, at least, young at heart. But this is ridiculous. The Sports Guy explains in his ESPN The Magazine column that he had to endure more talk about baby poop than about the latest NFL poop at his fantasy football draft. He's learning to live with it, but he's none too happy about the whole thing.

CATCH OUR NFL PREVIEWS
There's no end to those willing to risk making fools of themselves by predicting what will happen in the NFL. We've got a couple of our own -- Tuesday Morning Quarterback, who enlivens his guesses with haiku; and the Sports Guy, whose prognostications (Part 1 and Part 2) honor "Caddyshack."

You've already taken a look at our list of the top 10 teams of all time. Now we've compiled your choices for the best college football team, along with a poll to crown the greatest of them all.

10]  Notre Dame, 1988
"Victories over the teams ranked No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 at the time they played them ..."
9]  Syracuse, 1959

7]  Alabama, 1992
"As a football fan, I have to wonder how you could omit a 13-0 Bama club."

YANKEE CURE
Nobody appreciates the A's more than Ralph Wiley, whose sportswriting career began on a trip with one of those dreadful Charlie Finley teams.
