Looking for a baseball genius? Try Art Howe and Billy Beane, not Joe Torre and Joe Garagiola Jr., says Dan Shanoff in his pre-playoffs Hot 'n' Not List. Want hipness points? Wear a Miguel Tejada jersey or something like Ben Weber's goggles. Whatever you do, don't bet on Tawny Kitaen showing up at any of the games.

In Part 5 of his series on his year with the defending Super Bowl champion 1977 Raiders, Pat Toomay experiences first-hand the blood feud between the Silver-and-Black and the hated Pittsburgh Steelers, and tries to come to grips with the near-fatal accident of his friend and former roommate, Duane Benson.

Weekend Water Cooler Bob Halloran
Page 2's Brian Murphy took The Cooler on a weekend trip to Belfry, where they witnessed the World's Greatest Sporting Event -- aka, the Ryder Cup -- marveled at a wondrous collection of Golf Wives and shared Murph's first superfine shower experience in Europe.
You know how you're always rooting for the shocking result, for the underdog to take it to the big dog? Well, forget it, says Page 2's Bob Halloran, because there are no upsets in sports -- just misjudgments, misguided expectations and bad analysis by know-nothing "experts."

NFL STUDS AND DUDS
Another wild week in the NFL produced a rich crop of heroes and goats from all across the country. Page 2 cartoonist Larry Johnson, however, focused on the Show Me State for his Stud and Dud from Week 4. Here's a hint: One's Green and the other's blue.

Page 2 lists the top 10 Heisman Trophy winners who flopped as pros. After taking a look at our list, send us a note with your pick. Later this week we'll compile our readers' list along with a poll to crown the No. 1 Heisman bust in football history.

10]  Joe Bellino (Navy, 1960)
After four years of military service, he finally began an incredibly unremarkable three-year AFL career in 1965.
9]  John Huarte (Notre Dame, 1964)
Among the players who finished behind Huarte in the Heisman voting: Dick Butkus (third) and Gale Sayers (12th).
8]  Terry Baker (Oregon State, 1962)
In his first NFL season, he played little at his old position, completing 11 of 19 passes for 140 yards. Then the Rams tried to turn him into a running back, an experiment that failed.
7]  Gary Beban (UCLA, 1967)
He played only five games with the Redskins in '68 and '69, throwing one pass (incomplete), running five times for 18 yards, and catching one pass for 12 yards.
