You'd never catch Page 2's Brian Murphy doing the wave, ringing a cowbell or participating in any other silly stadium trend. So, you can imagine our shock to hear reports that The Murph was gleefully banging on a pair of Thunder Stix at Pac Bell. All we can say is our man in NorCal has Giant fever ... in a bad way.

The 1977 Oakland Raiders were a unique blend of misfits and maladjusted head cases, but even in that illustrious company John Matuszak stood out. Page 2's Pat Toomay details some of the tragicomic misadventures of The Tooz in Part 7 of his series about his season with the Silver and Black.

Hunter S. Thompson Bob Halloran
Sunday was a night when sports junkies needed picture-in-picture or a quick remote. Page 2's Hunter S. Thompson had no dilemma, however. He ignored baseball and focused on that brutal slugfest between the Dolphins and Broncos. Larry Johnson also had his eyes on the NFL, capturing our Week 6 Stud & Dud.
For a sports columnist, Bob Halloran is no know-it-all. In fact, he's fashioning a career out of writing about all the things he doesn't know. Among the things that confuse Halloran this week: why a grown man would want to be known as "Joey," Anna Kournikova's missing "a" and the love life of the World's Fastest Man.

WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY THINKING?
Why did Snoop Dogg get cut out of the newest "Muppets" movie? Why is Queen Elizabeth frequenting NHL exhibition games? And what caused CNN to consider a "whack" new format? Page 2 searches for these answers in "What the Heck Are They Thinking?"

Now that the underdog Angels are in the World Series, Page 2 lists our top 10 playoff upsets in baseball history. Take a look at our list, then send us your pick for the biggest playoffs shocker. Later this week, we'll compile our readers' list along with a poll to crown the biggest upset of them all.

10]  Reds over A's in 1990 World Series
The Sporting News said that "not since 1954 had the outcome of a World Series appeared such a foregone conclusion."
9]  Diamondbacks over Yankees in 2001 World Series
Luis Gonzalez's single in the bottom of the ninth to win Game 7 -- against the "unbeatable" Mariano Rivera -- capped one of the most memorable finishes.
8]  White Sox over Cubs in 1906 World Series
Though the Cubs had led the NL in batting (.262 average), the Sox (whose seven home runs on the year and anemic team batting average of .230 had earned them the nickname of "The Hitless Wonders") won the Series by outhitting the Cubs.
