espn.com Ali Contest
What's the scariest thing about the NBA for the 2002-03 season? Dikembe Mutombo's resurrection, Ben Wallace's hair or part 1 of The Sports Guy's NBA preview? After ranking the Eastern Conference teams from 1-15, he's feeling like James Brolin in "Amityville Horror" -- bleary-eyed, incoherent and hearing voices from the devil.

If you're a loyal reader of Tuesday Morning Quarterback, you probably figure Gregg Easterbrook sees every play of every NFL game every week. Sadly, that ain't true. Thanks to DirecTV's monopoly on the NFL and some pesky trees around TMQ's home, he's unable to catch every contest on Sunday Ticket. Our man is on a crusade to bring all the NFL games to the masses, but until then, he did manage to catch all the key moments of Week 8 (don't ask us how).

David Halberstam The Hot List
Even when he was blasting homers and standing eight outs away from a ring, Barry Bonds didn't look like he was having a very good time. David Halberstam says that's why he found it impossible to take joy in watching the game's best player ... and why he's happy Bonds never got that elusive ring.
A new NBA season tips off tonight, but it'll be eight months before we really know anything. Will Shaq and the Lakers four-peat? Will MJ's knees hold up? Will the Glove leave Seattle? Page 2's Dan Shanoff can't wait until next June, so he's willing to speculate today about what will be hot in '03.

A MISSED "MIRACLE"
Ever leave a sporting event early and get the sinking feeling that you might miss something special? Well, Page 2's Jeff Merron knows that nightmare all too well, and Monday's Giants-Eagles clash only reminded him of the day he missed the Miracle of the Meadowlands.

Now that Emmitt Smith has the career rushing mark, Page 2 lists the 10 best NFL records of all time. Take a look at our list, then send us a note with your pick for the greatest record in NFL history. Later this week, we'll compile our readers' choices along with a poll to crown the best record of them all.

10]  Gary Anderson -- 100 percent on FGs in a season
In 1998, Anderson achieved a mark that can only be tied, never broken -- he hit 35 of 35 field goals.
9]  Gale Sayers -- 30.56 career kick return average
There's never been a better, or more exciting, open-field runner than Gale Sayers.
8]  Paul Hornung -- 176 points in a season
He ran for 15 touchdowns, caught two TD passes, kicked 15 FGs and hit 41 PATs.
