Page 2's Jim Caple offers a wealth of sympathy for the newest Lakers, who eschewed the big money to join a Dream Team in Los Angeles and take a run at a ring. He's back ... and better than ever! Hunter S. Thompson, fresh out of a Colorado hospital and sporting Lord knows how many new body parts, returns to Page 2 with a thumb to his nose for the pain of spinal surgery. 8]  Cesar Gutierrez
In a 12-inning game against the Indians in Cleveland in 1970, the shortstop set a major league record by going 7-for-7. He was out of baseball after the 1971 season
