It didn't take much to keep Page 2's Bill Simmons happy when he was out there on the dating scene . . . just a love for Larry Legend, an affection for Man's Best Friend, a working knowledge of all 1,696 active NFL players and a photographic memory of "Field of Dreams" and every other movie ever made. Page 2's Jim Armstrong catches up with Bill Romanowski in the Raiders' weight room and finds the nastiest boy in the NFL pumping iron to . . . David Gates and Bread? That's right. Romo sculpts that hard body to 'Baby I'mA Want You.' That is, when he isn't groovin' to the soothing sounds of Neil Diamond.

Ballpark Tour Sportoon
Eric Neel stops by an SRO Kauffman Stadium on Page 2's Ballpark Tour and finds a Wonderland worthy of Dorothy's Oz. If Eric didn't know better, he'd say, "I don't think we're in Kansas any more."
As training camps wind down and the regular season approaches, Kurt Snibbe's Sportoon catches up with the NFL's annual rookie hazing rituals. Ever try to make it through two-a-days in Ray Lewis's coat?

THE DAILY QUICKIE
The Daily Quickie goes shopping on eBay and finds a certain pinstriped pitcher on the auction block. Plus, why Albert may have the MVP edge over Barry, and Worldly expectations for Freddy Adu.

For the 1992 Barcelona Games, NBC came up with an idea to recoup some of the $400 million in rights fees and $100 million in production costs: sell a special package, a "Triplecast" of 24-hour-a-day competition. Viewers balked at the $125 cost and NBC lost millions.
9]  Michael Jordan as a baseball player
After his first retirement, MJ played Double-A ball and hit .202 with 114 K's and three home runs. He was soon back on the basketball court
8]  Grass in the Astrodome
"The Eighth Wonder of the World" opened in 1965 with a translucent ceiling and real grass. Trouble was, too much glare, so they painted the roof ... but the grass died. Welcome aboard, Astrotuf.
