Freddy Adu, the 14-year-old soccer phenom, signed a professional contract with Major League Soccer. Adu hopes to make the U.S. World Cup roster in 2006, but he has a ways to go to make our list of the greatest teenage athletes of all time.

Gooden was just 19 in 1984 when he was 17-9 with a 2.60 ERA and led the NL with a rookie-record 260 strikeouts and finished second in the NL Cy Young voting.
9]  Tony Conigliaro
No teenager hit more home runs than Tony C., who hit 24 for his hometown Boston Red Sox in 1964 at age 19 (and hit .290 as well). And he did it despite breaking his arm in August and playing only 101 games.

After being named AP's top male athlete in 1977 at age 17 after winning a record $6.1 million in purses, the jockey did even better in 1978: he rode Affirmed to the Triple Crown.
