Official NASCAR Site Introduces NASCAR Garage Cam and Crew Chief Corner and Also Returns RaceCast, Live NASCAR Timing and Scoring Presented by MCI, MotorTrax In-Car Audio, NASCAR Championship Challenge
NASCAR Online (nascar.com) will debut a number of new features for the 41st running of the Daytona 500 on February 14, including NASCAR Garage Cam, a behind-the-scenes look at the garage area on race weekends, and the Crew Chief Corner, where the sport's top crew chiefs explain their racing strategies with the help of interactive elements. The improved site also has a new look and feel with a clean design, improved navigation, faster performance and an increased focus on "Race Day" coverage.
The official site of NASCAR, co-produced by NASCAR and ESPN Internet Ventures, also returns fan favorites RaceCast, which offers live NASCAR Timing and Scoring Presented by MCI and other race-day information, MotorTrax In-Car Audio, and the NASCAR Championship Challenge game, in which users draft actual NASCAR Winston Cup drivers for their teams.
New features for the 1999 season:
+ NASCAR Garage Cam - With technology provided by webcast leader Earthcam, NASCAR Garage Cam provides constantly updated, vivid color photo images from the track's garage area where races are often won and lost. Each race weekend,fans receive an insider's view of NASCAR Winston Cup teams preparing for the big race.
+ Crew Chief Corner - Top chiefs give the secrets of their success, as interactive elements from The Coach's Edge detail the finer points of racing strategy.
+ Expanded Track Preview - In-car video clips from the host track of each NASCAR Winston Cup race.
+ Search Engine - Users seeking their favorite features or the latest on certain drivers or teams can turn to this search vehicle for the answers.
+ Expanded NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Coverage: NASCAR Online will enhance its coverage of these two series through weekly driver chats, features and first person driver columns.
Returning features:
+ RaceCast- Java-powered application providing real-time, in-progress coverage of NASCAR Winston Cup, NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races and qualifying events. RaceCast takes information directly from NASCAR's scoring system at the racetrack and presents fans with continuously updated information so they can follow their favorite drivers' every move. Additionally, users can keep an eye on the weather, view track diagrams, access driver biographies and other pertinent data through the RaceCast feature.
+ MotorTrax In-Car Audio - Users have the option of listening in live to more than 25 NASCAR Winston Cup teams as pit crews try to bring their drivers home to victory lane.
+ NASCAR Championship Challenge - A free game enabling users to "own" teams consisting of actual NASCAR Winston Cup drivers; owners accumulate points based on the performance of their drivers in actual NASCAR Winston Cup races, using the exact same scoring system used by NASCAR.
Driver's Meeting Audio - At selected events, users can listen in to excerpts from the NASCAR Winston Cup driver's meetings.
NASCAR Garage - Behind the scenes looks at NASCAR race shops via feature stories, shop and transporter tours, Tech Q&A with top crew members, tech talk analysis, photo galleries and Live Audio of NASCAR Garage News from MRN Radio.
Collectibles Section - Greatly expanded over 1998's edition, the section's components will include features on avid NASCAR collectors, chats with collectibles experts, helpful Q&A and the latest collectible industry news.
Practice and Qualifying Results - constantly updated news and numbers from these events.
Photo Galleries - Vivid color snapshots from each NASCAR Winston Cup race.
