DOVER, Del. -- Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne will test drive this week in the hope he can return to racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Bayne missed his third straight race weekend at Dover International Speedway.
Bayne spent a week at the Mayo Clinic undergoing treatment for what doctors have called an inflammatory condition. He was released last week.
Team owner Jack Roush said Saturday that Bayne's blurred vision is "by and large" gone. Bayne will drive test laps at Gresham Motorsports Park in Georgia. If Bayne feels comfortable, he could be cleared to return.
Bayne could race in next week's All-Star race for the Wood Brothers, and return to his Nationwide ride in the May 22 event at Iowa.
Bayne, 20, entered the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., to undergo tests for symptoms originally thought to have been related to an insect bite for which he was hospitalized briefly last month.
