Auburn has gained Class 2004 commitments from outstanding running back Brad Lester of Lilburn-Parkview, Ga., over South Carolina, Duke, Virginia, Northwestern and Indiana, among others; and linebacker Courtney Harden of Leighton-Colbert County, Ala., over Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Alabama and UAB, among others. Nebraska, Georgia and Mississippi also showed interest.
Penn State has its 13th Class 2004 commitment in offensive lineman Trent Varva of Lake Orion, Mich., over offers from Michigan State, Illinois, Indiana, Boston College, Northwestern, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech. Notre Dame and Ohio State also showed interest. The Nittany Lions recently gained receiver Mark Rubin of Amherst-Amherst Central, NY., over offers from Boston College, Syracuse and Buffalo; and offensive lineman Austin Hinton of Secaucus, NJ., over Boston College, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Rutgers, among others.
Clemson has a Class 2004 commitmet from defensive back Brandon Croley of Jacksonville-First Coast, Fla., over Central Florida.
Kansas pledged Class 2004 offensive lineman Scott Haverkamp of Silver Lake, Kan., over interest from Arizona State, Kansas State and Missouri.
Class 2004 quarterback/athlete Stadford Brown of Washington, DC-Dunbar, has committed to Oregon State.
