Top 100 forward Maarty Leunen of Redmond, Ore., has announced for the Oregon Ducks over UCLA, Oregon State and Gonzaga. The Ducks recently gained Top 100 guards Chamberlain Oguchi of Richmond-George Bush, Tex., over Kansas State, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Georgia Tech; and Bryce Taylor of North Hollywood/Harvard-Westlake, Cal.
James Mays, a Top 100 forward from Raleigh-Garner, NC., committed to Clemson over South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Fordham.
Pittsburgh has added promising junior college forward John DeGroat of Monticello, NY/Northeastern Colorado CC, Colo. He had also visited Gonzaga and Oklahoma. Others showing interest were Baylor, Virginia Tech, South Florida, UNLV, Oregon, Clemson, West Virginia and Creighton.
Georgetown has a commitment from forward Cornelio Guibunda of Stamford/King&Low-Heywood Thomas, Conn.
Colorado has a commitment from guard/forward Richard Roby of San Bernadino, Cal/Groton-Lawrence Academy, Mass., over interest from Iowa State, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Washington and Richmond. The Buffs also gained Class 2005 junior forward Calvin Williams of Memphis-Hillcrest, Tenn., who averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds as a sophomore.
SMU gained guard Derrick Roberts of Houston-Nimitz, Tex. The Mustangs recently gained forward Paulius Ritter of Lithuania/Tulsa-Holland Hall, Okla., over Virginia Tech.
Forward Solomon Jones of Mt. Dora, Fla/Daytona Beach CC, Fla., chose South Florida over interest from Central Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Northeastern and George Mason.
Forward Larry Posey of Houston-Milby, Tex., committed to UTEP.
UNC-Greensboro has added a commitment from forward Kyle Hines of Sickerville-Timber Creek, NJ. Forward Matt Shaw of Centralia, Ill., is headed to Southern Illinois over Saint Louis, Creighton and Stanford.
Indiana State gained guard Zach McGrath of Mountain Home, Ark., over offers from Arkansas-Little Rock, Samford, Stephen F. Austin, Oral Roberts and Texas Arlington.
