Associated Press

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario -- Mike Gagliardo was killed Sunday in a two-car crash during the Trans-Am Series 125 at Mosport International Raceway.

Gary Longo, the other driver involved in the accident, remains in critical condition at Sunnybrook Medical Center in Toronto, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday. Neither the hospital nor Trans-Am officials were releasing further information.

The cars driven by Gagliardo and Longo collided between the first and second turns on the 38th lap of the 50-lap race.

Gagliardo was transported to Lakeridge Health Center in Bowmanville, where he was pronounced dead.

The race was won by pole-sitter Paul Gentilozzi.
