Jay Sauter
Team stays at 15th in the points

In Nazareth last weekend, we posted our seventh top-20 finish of the season with a 15th-place run Sunday. This race, which is usually wrecked-filled, only had three cautions for 21 laps this year.

I had another good car last weekend, but I was disappointed with my qualifying run, and Gene (Nead, crew chief) made a ton of changes race morning that really helped. Basically, I had a whole new setup for the race. I got a lap down after our first stop and just couldn't get it back. Passing is difficult at Nazareth, so getting a lap back is really tough. Overall, another solid top-15 finish for the Quality Farm Stores team, but I feel like I had a better car than that.

During time trials on Saturday afternoon, we qualified 22nd with a speed of 129.171 mph.

The first quarter of the race, I moved my way through traffic to the 17th position. By lap 95, I had moved into 15th when green flag pit stops began. We made our first stop on lap 96 for tires, fuel, and several chassis adjustments. At the midway point of the race, we were running in 15th.

When the second caution flag came on lap 116, we made our final stop of the afternoon. We restarted the race in 15th position.

The final 75 laps were spent battling with David Green (No. 34) for the 15th-position. The battle for position was a pretty exciting contest. We were able to hold off Green and finish the race in 15th.

With the finish at Nazareth, we stayed in the same points position, 15th, in the overall series after 13 races. We are still gunning for the top-10 and are only 67 points out heading into Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend.

Lowe's is another one of the mile-and-a-half tracks on our circuit that I really like. I'll drive the same car that I had earlier this year at Atlanta and Texas, two of my favorite tracks. I came from 26th to finish 13th at Atlanta and finished third at Texas, so this car can get the job done! Based on the performance of this car at both of those races, I didn't test at Charlotte this spring. Charlotte is home to most all the teams in our series, and everyone wants to do well in front of all the home fans, family and friends. Plus, the media attention for this race is tremendous. A good race here can really be a big boost for our team.

And, since my younger brother Johnny won the ASA race last Saturday at Concord Motorsports Park, there is some added motivation to win this weekend in Charlotte.

Last year in Charlotte, we had a sparkplug wire malfunction early in the race. Then, we promptly got involved in an accident with Hank Parker Jr. in Turn 4. We ended up finishing 35th. We believe we will have a much better finish this year.
