Tuesday, December 24 Updated: January 2, 2:37 PM ET Comments on CART drivers ESPN.com We spotlighted CART drivers Mario Dominguez and Adrian Fernandez. Here are your thoughts their '02 campaigns and prospects for next season:
Mario Dominguez
Dominguez had a tough rookie year, but may be able to showcase his talent with nearly everyone running the same equipment next year. It'll be tough against the vets like Tracy and Bruno, but you never know! Gabe Salazar Fayetteville, N.C.
The only reason Dominguez won Rookie of the Year was he was given the win in Australia. He qualified last for that race and didn't have a chance to win. Take that a way and Townsend Bell wins Rookie of the Year with less than half of the races. Does he deserve a ride in '03? No way, let's give his sponsored seat to a more deserving driver. Marshall Kent Williams Pismo Beach, Calif.
Adrian Fernandez
I think the next season ('03) will be a better season for Fernandez. He HAS to be one of the contenders for the championship because of the experience he has. Virgilio Gutierrez Monterrey, Mexico
I know Adrian is a great driver, but 2002 has not been great. Know that CART is going through many changes in the year 2003 and could be the last year for CART and possibly Adrian retiring. I feel that Adrian will show us again the great driver he is. Veronica Rosales Fontana, Calif.
Adrian has had a good career and has done a lot for the sport. His participation has almost singlehandedly made CART a huge success in Mexico and opened doors for Mexican drivers. I'm sure he wanted to be champion, but if he were to retire as a driver, I think he could do it with the satisfaction of knowing he's had a huge impact. Chris Wilkins Minneapolis, Minn. |
