Tuesday, December 31 Updated: January 8, 3:16 PM ET Comments on CART drivers ESPN.com We spotlighted CART drivers Roberto Gonzalez and Michel Jourdain. Here are your thoughts on Jourdain's '02 campaign and both drivers' prospects for next season:
2002 proved that Michel is a great driver, he just needs a competitive car. Phil Limon Downey, Calif.
Jourdain has been my favorite CART driver for a few years now and I think this may be his year to finally win a race or two. Kirk A. Nagy Taylor, Mich.
Roberto Gonzalez will do nothing for CART. All he is extra PR for the races in Mexico. There are better, more experienced drivers that deserve his seat. It all boils down is the sponsors. I have always believed that CART is the best series in the world, unfortunately, Roberto Gonzalez does not belong in that class. David Lee Houston, Texas
Michel Jourdain has the talent and skills to be very competitive in CART. He is by far, the best Mexican driver in the series. He is still young, so he has ability to learn and improve in the series. He should be a top 10 driver and would be a great representative of his country. David Lee Houston, Texas
Michel had a great season in 2002. He get a lot of experience driving for team Rahal and having a teammate like Vasser. Hope Rahal can get enough sponsorship to have a second car team this season. Michel will finish in the top three this season. Hector Garza-Arenas McAllen, Texas
I think with the multitude of Mexican drivers next year there will be less pressure from the Mexican media on the drivers, while still significant fanfare. A fast driver like this guy will be quick out of the gate and will be a threat to win races. A strong candidate for Rookie of the Year. Elliott Mills Novi, Mich.
Let's face it. Some drivers are hired to win races. Others are hired to drive 750 hp billboards on wheels. Nevertheless, Gonzalez has a better shot at winning races than former CART champion Jimmy Vasser does (with no ride at the moment) -- and that is a crying shame. Michael McGill San Diego, Calif. |
