Tuesday, January 28 Updated: February 5, 11:22 AM ET Comments on CART drivers ESPN.com We spotlighted CART drivers Roberto Moreno and Sebastien Bourdais. Here are your thoughts on their prospects for next season:
Roberto Moreno
Kevin Spence Phoenix, Ariz.
I look forward to seeing Roberto in the CART series in 2003. He is a very solid/competitive driver whom will bring the car back in one piece. He is a top-six driver and if anyone makes a mistake he will be higher. His personality and knowledge of racing will be invaluable to CART in 2003! Dave McCormick Toronto
I didn't know Viagra was sponsoring a CART driver this year? Roberto, please save the crying for your losses this year. I can't come up with a reasonable explanation to my eight- and 12-year-old kids why you are blubbering on the podium after a top-three finish! Michael McGill San Diego
Moreno is the kind of guy CART needs. Another familiar name among all these rookies and new faces can only help as the series tries to rebuild. Jessica Nelson St. Louis
Welcome back! It's a shame Moreno didn't have a ride last year. All the best. Jack Beard Houston
Sebastien Bourdais
Tim Fregeau Plainfield, Ill.
Even though it was testing, the fact that Sebastien had the quickest time one day at Laguna Seca makes me think "Watch out for this kid. He just might make some noise!" Peter Mayer Cincinnati
Bourdais is going to be the revelation of the 2003 CART season. With a team like Newman-Haas, he's even going to give his teammate Bruno a hard time. He's quick and his credentials are impressive, even though he won the 2002 F3000 championship by default. If he can adapt to the tracks quickly, he will be a frontrunner for the CART championship. T.D. Martin Mesquite, Texas
Once again, proof that CART is the unofficial feeder series for F1. The equation: F3000 top ten + CART championship = seat with Formula One team. I guess this beats the Red Bull route. Bon chance, Bourdais! Michael McGill San Diego, Calif.
With a team like Newman-Haas, I would not be surprised that he becomes a championship contender for 2003. Just like Montoya, F3000 as his training ground, the boy is ready to race. He reminds me of the late No. 99 Greg Moore. H.C. Jover Encino, Calif.
This guy has talent. Just look at the times set in preseason testing. In a car that is new to him on tracks that are new to him he is showing up some of the drivers that have been there for a long time. I would not be surprised if this guy does what Montoya did a few years back. I think the whole paddock should watch out for this TEAM to repeat last year's dominance. Eric Hesser Janesville, Wisc. |
