Wednesday, July 3 Looking for some luck By Kenny Brack Special to ESPN.com
It was another frustrating weekend for me in Chicago last weekend. I was involved in a first-lap accident with Jimmy Vasser. It all happened so quickly and I still haven't seen a tape of the accident, so I'm not sure what happened. It was going to be so hard to pass there, I was trying to make up a couple of spots as soon as I could. Unfortunately, it didn't work. This week, we're heading up to Toronto for the Molson Indy. It's such a great event up there. The people and the fans are wonderful. And the city is beautiful. The people really embrace the event and come out to see us put on a good show. We race up there on a street course close to downtown Toronto. Last year, I qualified third up there and had a really good car. Unfortunately, I had an electrical problem and didn't finish the race. So far this year, I've had really good cars on the road and street courses. I've qualified eighth, fourth and second twice on the road courses this year. I just haven't had the finishes to go along with those good qualifying runs. Things have to start changing this weekend for us. We've had good cars, it's just that one thing or another has caused us to have bad finishes. Whether it's an accident, a turbo or a wheel coming off, things just haven't gone our way. But we still have a lot of races left and I know we are going to win some races this year. We are only a third of the way through the season so far and we still have a long way to go. Our guys have been working very hard getting the cars ready week to week. They put in a lot of time preparing the cars for us and they are forgotten most of the time. Without them, we wouldn't be able to race. Way to go, guys! People wonder what we do when we're not at the track. For me, I enjoy working out and playing the guitar. They are about the only things that keep me from thinking about racing. I think about racing all the time. But when I can get away I love to play the guitar. I played last week at the Hard Rock Cafe in Indianapolis for Speed Channel and it was great! I've also played a few times at the Slippery Noodle in Indy and that was a lot of fun too. Well, I'm going to head to the gym now and work out. I leave for Toronto on Thursday morning to get ready for the race. Happy Independence Day, everyone!
