Hello race fans!

I'm back in Indianapolis after our weekend in Mid-Ohio, where Team Target finished 4-5-6. Unfortunately, we were the ones who finished sixth. Don't get me wrong, sixth is a pretty decent finish, but I felt like we had a car to finish on the podium.

The weekend started out well for us. We had a car that was pretty good on that winding 2.2-mile road course in Lexington, Ohio. On the first day of qualifying, we ran into some trouble finding a clear track and wound up ninth.

On Saturday, we had some better luck and I ended up fourth. I felt that with our starting position, combined with the fact we had a good car, a top-three finish was well within our grasp. But that wasn't to be.

On the start of the race, I was trying to be a little conservative and not get into a wreck on the first lap. That caused us to lose a few positions and we found ourselves in seventh after the first lap. From then on, it was very difficult to pass anyone out there.

When you would get up behind the guy in front of you, it would take enough air off of the car that you would lose a little bit of downforce. I'd have to back off just enough that I couldn't make the pass.

It feels good though to get some points and finish a race. We've had some terrible luck this year and we needed some confidence heading up to Road America this weekend. Last year in Road America, I won the pole. And two years ago, I finished third.

It's a track that most of the drivers love, and I'm one of them. It has a lot of elevation changes and fast corners and the long front straight allows for passing opportunities. We've had a strong car on the road courses this year, so I'm really looking forward to this weekend.

We're in a stretch of four races in row this month, making this our busiest month of the season. This month should go a long way towards determining who the champion will be. After Road America, we visit two tracks for the first time.

Montreal and Denver are new additions to our schedule this year, and it is going to be great to let those fans see our racing for the first time. In Montreal we are racing on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, which is the same track that hosts the F1 cars. In Denver, we will be racing on the streets of the Mile High City and it should be a great event.

CART just released the 2003 schedule this weekend and it looks pretty good. Our first race is in February in St. Petersburg, Fla., and we end the season in November at Fontana, Calif. The schedule is favorable for the team guys as they have eliminated the three and four in a row races. It's now going to be easier on the truck drivers and the mechanics. These are the guys who turn in long hours and sacrifice time with their families to allow guys like me to race.

I need to head to the gym now to get my workout in. We haven't had a win yet this year, but I have a good feeling about this weekend. Root the No. 12 Target car on this weekend up in Road America, we could really use the win!
