Hello race fans!

It's been a few weeks since I've checked in with you. Let me get you caught up on what has happened over the last couple of weeks. We raced over in England a few weeks ago and things started off very well for us. We had a fast car right out of the box and finally something good happened to us. We put the Target car on the pole! It was quite a thrill and a relief to know that we at least got that big monkey off our backs.

Jackie Stewart was there to present me with the pole winner flag and that was pretty exciting. It was great to see the smiles on my crew's faces when we won it. Unfortunately, that thrill would only last for about 24 hours.

The race started and the car was almost perfect. We had the car to beat, no question about it. I led 134 laps and I really felt like we were going to win that thing.

Then our bad luck struck us once again. On the very last pit stop, a wheel nut came off during the stop and it cost us a couple of extra seconds. Because the field is so competitive, we went from first to ninth and we didn't have enough laps left to make it back up front. I think that it is Murphy's Law that says whatever can go wrong, will. That seems to be what has happened to our team all year long.

Then last weekend in Miami, we had a fast car all weekend long. We were the top five or six in all of the practice sessions and qualified fourth, which is pretty good. Then shortly into the race, something happened with the differential on the car and it was undriveable. It was pushing very bad and I was over three seconds off the pace. It finally gave way and we had to retire the car, finishing 13th. It was our eighth DNF in 16 races.

We just haven't had any good luck at all this year. It has nothing to do with the team. My guys are the best in the business and I wouldn't want anyone else working on my car. It's just one of those deals. We've had fast cars week in and week out. We just haven't had any good breaks at all.

Luckily, we still have a few races left to get my Target car into Victory Lane. It's been a long season, but you can't dwell on that because what's done is done. We have to look forward to these three races left and try to get a victory. That's all we can do.

We have a week off before we head over to beautiful Surfer's Paradise, Australia. It's most of the driver's favorite stops on the circuit. Although it takes a long time to get there, it's well worth the trip. The track is right on the beach and the weather is always great. The fans over there are unbelievable. Every day the place is packed with race fans. It's quite a spectacle. There's lots of shopping and night life, it's really a neat place. If any of you are looking for a fun vacation spot and want to see a race, Surfer's is the place. In fact, I like it so much that I'm going over there a few days early for some rest and relaxation.

After Australia, we race the next weekend in Fontana, Calif. It's a pretty quick turnaround for all of the teams to unload the freight from the planes and have the cars turned from a street course car to a speedway car. I'm looking forward to these two upcoming races. First of all we've been fast all year on the street courses and secondly, I like racing on the fast ovals. It's a good way to close out the season.

I'll check back in after this two-race stretch and hopefully, I'll have a race win or two to tell you about. I'll talk to you later!
