Recap
2002: This 27-year-old Englishman made an impressive champ car and oval-track debut by leading 18 laps and finishing ninth in front of his countrymen at Rockingham, England.

Career: A former F1 test driver for British American Racing, Darren Manning is also a Japanese Formula 3 champion in 1999. He also led wire-to-wire in the Pau Grand Prix in '99, making him the first driver to pull that off since the late Ayrton Senna. Manning also scored a pair of victories in British Formula 3 series.

2003 outlook
One of the few CART drivers in a Reynard chassis, Manning will be tested early and often by new surroundings but he does give Derrick Walker some legitimate talent for 2003. He will also be a draw as CART makes its debut at Brands Hatch.
