2002 recap
The good: Replaced rookie Townsend Bell in Pat Patrick's car 10 races into the season and recorded a fourth-place finish at Rockingham, England, and a fifth at the California 500 in Fontana.

  • Season highlight: Started 18th and charged to fifth in the fastest 500-mile race ever run at Fontana.

The bad: Original ride with PacWest folded after three races and then he missed the next six shows before Patrick called.

  • Season lowlight: Running among leaders at Elkhart Lake, Wisc., before blown engine KO'd him after 35 laps.

Key stat: Had five DNFs due to mechanical failures.

    2003 outlook
This 28-year-old Spaniard is returning to Patrick Racing and will have a new engineer, Steve Challis, plus an opportunity to start out the season on level ground with everyone else.

Prediction: Servia has the talent to be a serious contender, all he needs is some reliability.
