Panis, Verstappen penalized 25-seconds
Reuters

MELBOURNE -- The results of Sunday's Australian Formula One Grand Prix were changed more than four hours after the race ended when Olivier Panis and Jos Verstappen were penalised for overtaking on a yellow flag.

Frenchman Panis, who had finished fourth for BAR, and Dutch driver Verstappen were both given 25-second penalties after stewards found they had broken the rules.

With the penalties added to their recorded finishing times, both drivers moved down the finishing list, and changed the championship standings.

Panis was demoted to seventh, losing his three points, with Germany's Nick Heidfeld promoted to fourth for Sauber, compatriot Heinz-Harald Frentzen's Jordan moved up to fifth and Finnish debutant Kimi Raikkonen sixth for Sauber.

Verstappen dropped one place to 10th after finishing ninth in his Arrows. Prost driver Jean Alesi moved up to ninth.
