SILVERSTONE, England -- Team-by-team analysis of Sunday's British Grand Prix:

FERRARI

(Michael Schumacher 2nd, Rubens Barrichello 3rd) - German Michael Schumacher looked satisfied to cruise around Silverstone for the six points in second place. Pitted with Mika Hakkinen on lap 39 but the Finnish driver again held the lead.

Brazilian Rubens Barrichello started well and was boosted into fourth place from sixth. He held off the challenge of Juan Pablo Montoya for the second half of the race to secure a podium finish.

MCLAREN

(David Coulthard Retired, Mika Hakkinen 1st) - Briton David Coulthard suffered a disastrous start to his home race as he was forced into a spin at the first turn after touching the Jordan of Jarno Trulli. He recovered, but was down in 18th, and was forced out on lap three with suspension damage.

Mika Hakkinen had a solid start and overtook Michael Schumacher for the lead on lap five. Held the lead for the majority of the race and had extended the gap between himself and Schumacher by more than half a minute by the time he took the chequered flag.

BMW-WILLIAMS

(Ralf Schumacher Retired, Juan Pablo Montoya 4th) - German Ralf Schumacher started well and stayed in the top-six until a technical fault forced the German driver out of the race after he had completed 36 laps.

Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya had a great start as he managed to push up from eighth to third and led the race briefly in the early stages after Hakkinen went in for his first pit-stop.

BENETTON

(Giancarlo Fisichella 13th, Jenson Button 15th) - Italian Giancarlo Fisichella made his way out of the pits on lap 44 as Enrique Bernoldi put his foot down in his Arrows and the two nearly clashed. Otherwise, an uneventful race as he failed to make an impression on the top-10.

Briton Jenson Button struggled with the handling of his car for most of the race as he battled near the rear of the field. A disappointing performance in front of his home crowd.

BAR

(Olivier Panis Retired, Jacques Villeneuve 8th) - Frenchman Olivier Panis was forced off on the first bend after being nudged by team mate Jacques Villeneuve. His race was over as he was left beached in the gravel.

Canadian Jacques Villeneuve held on strongly to beat Eddie Irvine's Jaguar for eighth position after passing Jean Alesi on lap 11 and never looking back.

JORDAN

(Jarno Trulli Retired, Heinz-Harald Frentzen 7th) - Italian Jarno Trulli went into the gravel on the first turn after clashing with the McLaren of David Coulthard while fighting for third place.

German Heinz-Harald Frentzen was the only finishing Jordan, battling with the two Saubers for a points placing. Almost got past Nick Heidfeld for sixth on lap 36, but finished just short of the points.

ARROWS

(Jos Verstappen 10th, Enrique Bernoldi 14th) - Dutchman Jos Verstappen improved well on his start of 17th on the grid to move up the field to 13th. Successfully got past Alesi to complete the top 10 in the latter stages of the race.

Brazilian Enrique Bernoldi had a near miss when he accelerated out of the pits and slid into Giancarlo Fisichella on lap 44 as they raced for 12th position. Recovered to complete race distance for only the third time this season.

SAUBER

(Nick Heidfeld 6th, Kimi Raikkonen 5th) - German Nick Heidfeld secured sixth place for the second successive race after a steady performance and picked up the last of the points for Sauber.

Finn Kimi Raikkonen pressured Ralf Schumacher early on for fifth, until the Williams driver drove off the track. First man to pit, on lap 20, he produced an assured drive in his first British Grand Prix to score points.

JAGUAR

(Pedro de la Rosa 12th, Eddie Irvine 9th) - Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa had a quiet race, as he improved on his qualifying position of 13th but never worried the points-scorers.

Eddie Irvine had a fast pit-stop on lap 32 enabling the Ulsterman to get in front of Jean Alesi. Fought Jacques Villeneuve for eighth place through the mid-point of the race.

MINARDI

(Tarso Marques Did not qualify, Fernando Alonso 16th) -

Spaniard Fernando Alonso battled at the rear for most of the race. Lost a front left wheel on lap 42 but crawled into the pit lane on three wheels and managed to continue.

PROST

(Luciano Burti Retired, Jean Alesi 11th) - Brazilian Luciano Burti was forced to coast to a stop on the pit straight as smoke bellowed from the back of his car and left him stranded on lap 7.

Frenchman Jean Alesi was beaten by Eddie Irvine in the pits as they battled to stay inside the top 10. Overtaken by several drivers in between pit stops, dropping down to 11th.
