Irvine agrees with show going on
Reuters

MONZA, Italy -- Jaguar Formula One driver Eddie Irvine said he agreed with the decision to go ahead with Sunday's Italian Grand Prix despite the terror acts in Manhattan and Washington on Tuesday.

Irvine said he had plenty of experience of terrorism from his upbringing in Northern Ireland.

"I'm used to terrorism maybe," Irvine said on Saturday. "I had it since I was five years old until I was 20 when I left Ireland, so I am very used to it and you just ignore them don't you?"

The British-ruled province of Northern Ireland has seen years of guerrilla war and communal strife.

Irvine, a former Ferrari driver, has an apartment in Manhattan and said he had been considering a visit on Monday or Tuesday before travelling to Monza but decided to delay the trip until after the race.
