Here's what users had to say about Ferrari's Michael Schumacher and his future prospects:

No, no one will stop Schumacher in 2002. Bad luck could, no other driver will. As far as the greatest, no, not until he passes all of the greatest marks. It may well be a case of the right driver in the right car at this point. It would be a surprise if the Ferrari with Michael in it does not dominate in 2002.

Is he the greatest driver of all time? Twelve more wins than Senna in eight fewer races. Poles mean nothing, only results matter.

Michael proves himself everytime he straps in to the car. He really shows his brilliance when he is in the rain, and still turns laps at super fast speed. It would so fun to watch him in a cart car. Not only is the car that he drives fast, but he keeps his momentum better than anyone. All of his wins and championships prove my point.

Simply the best. There is no other words to describe him. It is hard to compare Schumacher to Fangio because of the different eras, but there is no doubt Schumacher is bloody quick. He won races when he had a vastly inferior car in 1996, '97, '98 and '99. Now that he is in the best car we see total domination. Frank Williams is quoted as saying that watching Michael qualify is one of the few things that turns him on in Formula One. He's fantastic to watch.

I'd like to think Schumacher is going to see a lot of competition this year, from numerous drivers, both in qualifying and on race day. However, I can also foresee another 10-pole, nine-win season for the German. We can only wait and see. As far as his status among the all-time greats, you'd be crazy not to rank him in the top 3. But the best ever? That is not a definite. Granted, his mid '90s run in the vastly inferior Benetton was nothing short of amazing and god-like. And in the rain, he can lap the entire field. Except, where was his competition? Put him against Senna in the rain, I'd like to see that. He has not had to compete another true legend since that tragic day at Imola in '94 when racing lost Senna, who is in my opinion the best driver to ever have lived. Senna racked up 65 poles and three world titles while having Alain Prost as his teammate for most of his career. That is what separates Senna -- his ability to beat, and sometimes completely dominate Prost, another legend in his own right. However, I will say this: Given a few more years, Schumacher could pass both of them up in status rank, but he needs help from Montoya and co. He needs a rival.

No one will stop Schumacher in 2002. Ferrari is still head and shoulders above Williams and McLaren. Schumi has no equal behind the wheel. Definitely not Coulthard, who he has been his whipping boy for the past three years. Not his brother Ralf, who let Michael cut him off at the European Grand Prix. And not Montoya, who has yet to show consistent brilliance. None of Schumacher's competitors come close to his ability to drive on the edge while maintaining total control. He never gets rattled. If he isn't the greatest driver of all time, he is certainly one of the top 3 with Andretti and Senna. Having a great car is a blessing, but Schumacher's talents were evident when Benneton and Ferrari were struggling and he still managed to win races. The 2002 championship is his to lose.

Michael will probably win his fifth title. If not, Juan Pablo will win his first. Juan Manuel Fangio is the best F1 driver of all-time. Look at his winning percentage, and at his age when he was doing it. Last year McLaren had the best car, even though as a Ferrari fan it pains me to say so.

Frank Freda Jr.
Downers Grove, Ill.

Michael Schumacher is the New York Yankees of F1. He is the one you love to hate, but he is simply the best. He is the greatest all around driver in the history of F1. He could probably lead Minardi to a world driver's championship, given a few years to improve the performance gap. I see at least 2-3 more titles cranked out by Schuey before retirement, and then I see him managing a successful team.
