Users: Ralf second-best at Williams
ESPN.com

Here's what users had to say about Williams' Ralf Schumacher and his future prospects:

Ralf Schumacher is a very good driver. He isn't a great one like brother Michael, and Juan Pablo Montoya also may well be. Ralf's 2002 season will probably be similar to 2001; he will win a race or two, but not be a contender for the championship. If Montoya can win several races and keep within sight of Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard, I think Ralf's days at Williams are numbered. Williams still has an option on Jenson Button for 2003, and if Ralf is outpaced by Montoya this season, I think it will be Montoya and Button at Williams in 2003.

Ralf Schumacher should grow up. Montoya might not be the better driver -- but he is faster. Coming from CART he knows how to race. So live with it and learn from it. Maybe he should talk to big brother more often and learn how to manipulate the situation more to his liking. Competition is good.

Ralf is good, but Juan Pablo is better. Look for Juan to finish with more points, if not the championship, realistically. Juan should finish no worse than third for the championship.

Montoya will outshine Ralf Schumacher! Juan has more drive, more desire and a much stronger determination to win. Ralf tries to take advantage of the fact he is the brother of the World Champion, but he is no World Champion. And in my opinion he will never be.

Ralf has always and will always live in his brother's shadow. It may be hard to accept, especially for him, but he is no Michael Schumacher. I expect Ralf to have another up-and-down season; with flashes of brilliance, yet also with flashes of not even being the team's best driver. Over the course of the year, Montoya will undoubtedly out-qualify Ralf more often than not; from there it's just a question of the car holding up and who can keep the wheels on the road for two hours. Montoya drives flat out in any situation, and most of the time his best will be better than Ralf's. Granted, Ralf will win races this year, and in the coming years he probably will be a world champion as well, but not this year ... not even close.

Ralf Schumacher lacks consistency. By being outperformed at the end of the 2000 and 2001 seasons by his rookie teammates he demonstrated he can't perform well for a whole year. Psicologically he is much less strong than Juan Montoya, who on the other hand is learning quickly and still has much room to improve and go faster. This new season is a lot more likely to be Montoya's one. I think the question you will be asking by mid-season is whether Schumacher (Michael, not Ralf) can out-run Montoya for the 2002 driver's title.

Ralf put in some stunning drives in 2001, especially in Montreal where he hounded brother Michael for lap after lap before eventually winning. But the second half was troubling the way Montoya got the better of him. In fact, he has now been decisively outqualified at Spa by teammates Damon Hill, Jenson Button, and Montoya -- two of them rookies. He's going to have to dig deeper next year if he's to be a possible champion.

"Schuey Jr." has all the raw talent to accomplish similar results as his brother. He needs to harness the mental and professional side of driving, and can learn a lot from Michael. The Schumacher/Montoya team has all the makings of Senna & Prost all over again. If they can use the ill feelings they have for each other as a positive motivation, the Williams team will be very scary this year. I think Frank Williams can work a little magic with these two very talented drivers.
