Check out a short list of favorites for Sunday's European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.

Rubens Barrichello
Barrichello
Rubens Barrichello
Started and finished third two weeks ago at the Canadian Grand Prix; owned an early lead at Montreal, but the safety car ruined his chances when it was called out early in the event, eliminating any advantage the Brazilian had to gain as a result of his two-stop strategy; has three top three finishes this season and sits in fourth place in the World Drivers' Championship standings; came in fourth at Nurburgring last year after a third-place effort in 2000.

Jenson Button
Hopes to put his recent bad luck behind him and return to the form that helped him gain three consecutive top five finishes in March and April; failed to finish two weeks ago at the Canadian Grand Prix, is fifth in the World Drivers' Championship standings with eight points; was 13th at the Nurburgring last season

David Coulthard
Finished second at the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks ago after fending off Rubens Barrichello; after starting eighth on the grid, the Scot made up two places at the start and battled his way to the top three; has 26 points in the World Drivers' Championship standings, one behind third-place Juan Montoya of Williams; claimed his 12th career victory last month at the Monaco Grand Prix; finished third at last year's European GP.

Juan Pablo Montoya
Was forced to retire with engine failure two weeks ago in Montreal; it was the second straight DNF for the Colombian, despite starting from pole position at both events; started the season with four podium finishes and points in all six races; last year started third at European Grand Prix and finished in second place in his first visit to the Nurburgring; set a new lap record with 1:18.354 here in 2001, a mark that will now never be beaten as the track length has been extended; is tied with teammate Ralf Schumacher, but is third in the World Drivers' Championship due to the German's lone race victory.

Michael Schumacher
Is closing in on tying Juan Manuel Fangio's record five world titles; has practially sealed his third straight World Drivers' championship with six wins and 70 points; notched Ferrari's 150th Grand Prix win two weeks ago in Montreal; has podium finishes in all eight races this season, with third- and second-place finishes at Malaysia and Monaco, respectively, his only miscues; has won at the Nurburgring four times in his career, including the last two years.

Ralf Schumacher
Owns the edge over Williams teammate Juan Montoya for second place due to his victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix; barely finished out of the points for only the third time this season two weeks ago at the Canadian Grand Prix with a seventh-place effort; has qualified well this season, never starting a race from below the fourth spot; the Nurburgring circuit is a special place for the 26-year-old with his hometown of Kerpen just an hours drive away; achieved his first victory here in 1993 driving a Formula BMW Junior car; putting Formula Junior races, Formula 3 and F1 since 1997 together, he has contested 16 races at the Nurburgring; came in fourth here last year.
