We spotlighted F1 drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Michael Schumacher. Here are your thoughts on their '02 campaigns and prospects for next season:

Kimi Raikkonen
Kimi Raikkonen
Kimi is without doubt one of the top drivers in F1 currently. Not only can he turn it on and drive on the edge during qualifying and race conditions, he also has the ability to know when to push and when to drive smart. If the equipment McLaren gives him holds up I look for Kimi to be the main rival for Michael Schumacher this year.

This is one of the young drivers who are bound to make their mark on F1. Raikkonen is, to most astute F1 observers, superior to his teammate David Coulthard, who is getting a bit long in the tooth. Raikkonen will probably have more wheel to wheel battles with J. Montoya, albeit behind the Ferraris, and will have a stronger finish in the points in '03, maybe as high as fourth.

Dennis Walker
Silverdale, Wash.

I think Kimi will win a couple of races this year and put David Coulthard out of a seat at McLaren. His driving style is truly unique and he will definitely challenge for the title this year as well as in years to come. He and Montoya will have many historic battles on his way to the championship.

Manav Chopra
Riverside, Calif.

To be honest, Kimi Raikkonen could of lost the will to do as well as he did last year, considering the numerous times he saw blue smoke coming out the back of his McLaren. Raikkonen certainly has the skill to win in the future, but unfortunately I don't think McLaren is yet regained the form they showed from 1998 and 1999, when they were the best of the best. Visits to the podium on a routine basis are certainly a possibility for the Finn this season, more so than David Coulthard.

Matthew Embury
Saint Joseph, Mich.

If Kimi's car loses its reliability problems and Mercedes is able to boost the output on his car, Kimi should be competitive against Ferrari and BMW. He has shown that he has the talent to win.

Christopher Kleiber
Holliswood, N.Y.

Without the oil in France Kimi would've won one. But if there was one more lap Schumacher would've passed him anyway. I think Kimi has enough experience to win but he'll need a few failures by Ferrari and Williams. Not to mention his teammate who didn't need those failures to win in Monaco.

Michael Schumacher
Michael Schumacher
Formula One has two eras: before and after Schumacher. He is the Michael Jordan/Tiger Woods of F1 and he deserves it all. He is a driving machine that happens to drive the best machine in the sport.

While Ferrari's antics at Austria and here in the States were disastrous, I think the measure of a driver's talent lies in his record on the difficult circuits, such as Spa, Suzuka and Monte Carlo. Michael absolutely destroyed the competition at Spa and Suzuka. His record at Monaco over the last 10 years is unbelievable. He is truly a great champion and whatever anyone says about F1 being boring, I don't buy it. I will gladly get up every other weekend at 7:00 a.m. to watch him drive.

Akron, Ohio

This guy Schumacher is cheating! There is no way he's that much better than the competition. F1 needs inspections done on these cars before each race. My uncle is a mechanic for Williams and he told me that Ferrari was using nitrous bottles like Vin Diesel in Fast and the Furious!

Samuel Taney
Pittsburgh, Pa.

Are you kidding me?! There will be no competition for Michael in' 03. The combo of Ferrari and Michael are unbeatable. The finest precision racing instrument, with the finest precision driver. Fantastic!

Glenn Bell
Atlanta

Michael will win a record sixth title and do it in dominating fashion just like last year. He has no equal in Formula One or any other racing series.

2002 was a great year for Michael and I expect better this year. I hope F1 does not mess with the rules. Fair is fair. Go Michael.
