Boat to drive for his own team at Indy
Associated Press

PHOENIX – Billy Boat has backed out of driving for A.J. Foyt in next month's Indianapolis 500 in order to drive for his own team.

Boat said this week he felt he had to tell Foyt no after all when additional sponsorship for the Indy Racing League team he co-owns with Greg Beck became available, contingent upon his driving at Indy for his own team.

"It was a tough decision and a decision I struggled with," Boat said. "But in looking at the long-term goals of my team, it was something I had to do.

"I don't think it will affect my relationship with A.J.," Boat added. "I think he understood my position."
