Thursday, June 7 Cheever will run without sponsor ESPN.com news sources INDIANAPOLIS -- As of June 1, Excite@Home and Cheever Indy Racing have amicably ended their partnership. Excite@Home will no longer sponsor the No. 51 Infiniti-powered race car driven by veteran Eddie Cheever in the IRL. "We were very pleased to partner with Excite@Home and we enjoyed a great relationship with them," said Cheever, who finished third in the 2000 IRL standings. "With the support of Excite@Home, Cheever Indy Racing earned the first IRL win for Infiniti Motorsports at Pikes Peak last June and made a strong run at the series championship. "Our goal at Cheever Indy Racing and Infiniti remains the same: to continue our quest to win the 2001 Indy Racing championship with the new Infiniti Indy 35A engine." The car will now be entered as the #51 Cheever Indy Racing Infiniti. Send this story to a friend | Most sent stories
