2002 recap
The good: Nobody qualified better and fared worse than the 36-year-old Swede, who still managed one win, a second, a third and a trio of fourths in his first season with Target/Ganassi.
Season highlight: Started sixth in season finale at Mexico City and parlayed good drive and great final pit stop to lead the last 12 laps and earn his lone victory of 2002.
The bad: Crashed out, or was knocked out, of four races on the first lap.
Season lowlight: Dominating Rockingham before falling to eighth following disaster with left-rear tire on final pit stop.
| |
| After a few seasons in CART, former series champion Kenny Brack returns to the IRL in 2003. |
Key stat: Qualified fourth or better on nine occasions and led 268 laps but only finished 10 out of 19 races.
2003 outlook
Reunited with owner Bobby Rahal and engineer Don Halliday but leaving CART for the IRL, where he captured the 1998 title and 1999 Indy 500.
Prediction: If Honda engine is up to the task, Brack will be a force. He and Halliday dominated CART's ovals in 2001.
