Wednesday, December 24 A.J. Foyt IV By Robin Miller Special to ESPN.com
The good: Qualified 23rd for his first Indianapolis 500 and ran all day -- finishing 18th for grandpa. Started 17th and came home 11th at Nazareth. The bad: Crashed out of three of his first seven starts and also had four other accidents in testing, practice and qualifying. Key stat: Best starting spot was 14th at first Texas race.
2004 outlook Key change: After winning Infiniti Pro Series, this 20-year-old kid was thrown into deep end with IRL's most competitive lineup ever. Prediction: Anthony has potential but not nearly enough experience. He ran the last nine races clean after all his crashes and also got an engineer halfway through season. This A.J. still facing steep learning curve.
