Tuesday, January 7 Updated: January 20, 1:35 PM ET Comments on NHRA drivers ESPN.com We spotlighted NHRA drivers Tony Pedregon and Del Worsham. Here are your thoughts on their '02 campaigns and prospects for next season:
Worsham's is a great old-time, well prepared team. Needs to focus on two cars and details, details, details. They've got the knowledge and money, the luck will come.
As fine a representative for drag racing as you can find, Tony Pedregon's your next world champion and will earn many rings. All the Pedregon boys have nitro in their veins. If Force ever goes to the dragster he could let them each drive a flopper and would probably end the season 1-2-3.
Many fans are pulling for Del to do well coming from a very underfinanced team to a premier player. The killer instinct that Force has is what Del needs to go nose to nose week after week. Terry Tunge Sioux Falls, S.D.
I think Del Worsham is lucky to be in John Force's equipment. He keeps improving his position in the points, but who wouldn't in Force's fast Mustangs. The bottom line is he still finished third -- last -- on his team. I'm sure there's a pretty good sized group of drivers who could do the same in those cars. Web Brookings Phoenix
I think Tony gained invaluable experience from last season's title competition and can possibly take that and build on it to get him the championship this season. Mike Cantu Newport Beach, Calif.
Pedregon appears to be the heir apparent to John Force in Funny Car after almost claiming the title in 2002. But I don't think Force is ready to give up the crown just yet -- Pedregon will have to wait another year or two before besting Force. Willie Donaldson Chaplin, Conn.
