MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr., still coping with the death of his father in last Sunday's Daytona 500, will race this weekend at Rockingham, N.C., the Dale Earnhardt Inc. team announced Tuesday.

Harvick may step into the No. 3
Richard Childress Racing is considering having a young driver from its stable, Kevin Harvick, race the No. 3 car this weekend at Rockingham. Harvick is scheduled to make seven starts for the team this year.

Winston Cup teams return to action Saturday with qualifying for Sunday's Dura-Lube 400 at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham.

Tony Stewart, who suffered a mild concussion and a bruised left shoulder in a 19-car accident earlier in the race, also will race this weekend at Rockingham, N.C., a spokesman for Stewart said.

The funeral for Earnhardt will be held Thursday at noon ET at Calvary Church in Charlotte. The service will not be open to the public, but it will be televised.

The church, which can seat 6,000 people on three levels, will open at 10 a.m., and the 30-minute service will begin at noon. The service is open to immediate family, employees and sponsors of Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Richard Childress Racing, NASCAR Winston Cup teams and tracks, and NASCAR.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., who finished second in the Daytona 500, said his family appreciated the outpouring of support.

"We'll get through this," he said. "I'm sure he'd want us to keep going, and that's what we're going to do."
