Friday, March 9 Gallery features pictures, memorabilia Associated Press TALLADEGA, Ala. -- The International Motorsports Hall of Fame & Museum opened a new exhibit honoring the late Dale Earnhardt on Friday. The Earnhardt Gallery features a collection of pictures and memorabilia relating to the seven-time Winston Cup champion, who died in a last-lap crash at the Daytona 500 on Feb. 18. "We wanted to make this much more than just a series of pictures of him sitting in his race car, and it is," said Jim Freeman, the museum's executive director. "We have some very unusual photos, and we will be adding to the gallery as time goes on." The exhibit includes baby pictures, family pictures and other rarely seen photos of Earnhardt, as well as three paintings from artist Sam Bass. A video presentation depicting each of Earnhardt's 76 Winston Cup wins is in the works. The gallery is housed in a converted movie theater.  Send this story to a friend | Most sent stories
