Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Became the first rookie to win The Winston in 2000. Last year he struggled with a rough-handling car before passing a dozen cars in the final 10 laps to finish seventh. Dropped to 12th in series standings; has 5 top-five results.

Jeff Gordon
Defending champion of The Winston; also won event in 1995 and 1997. No wins this year, 2 poles and six top-10s put him sixth in points.

Kevin Harvick.
First career victory came in just third start. Poor year with just one top-five finish.

Dale Jarrett
Never won The Winston, but was second to Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 2000. Winless in 11 races this year, with just one top-five; 15th in series points.

First career Winston Cup victory was recorded in the 2000 Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Excellent year with 2 victories, four top-fives and seven top-10s; second in the standings, 132 points behind Sterling Marlin.

Bobby Labonte
The Winston winner in 1999 and had finishes of second the previous two years. A win to show for this year, but otherwise disappointing. Lowly 22nd in the standings. Recorded first Winston Cup victory at this track in 1995.

Terry Labonte
Two-time Winston Cup champion won this event in 1988 and 1999. Competed in 16 of 17 all-star events, missing the 1991 race when he finished ninth in The Winston Open and failed to transfer. Slightly better position (17) in the points than brother Bobby. Only two top-10 finishes.

Mark Martin
Took the checkered flag of this entertaining race in 1998. Consistent runs to this point. Seven top-10 results gives him fourth in the Winston Cup standings.

Tony Stewart
Finished third in last year's race and second in 1999 (his first appearance). Winner of two races this year, most recently the Pontiac Excitement 400 in the last start.

Rusty Wallace
