INDIANAPOLIS -- The Brickyard 400 matched the 2001 edition as the highest-rated in its nine-year history.

Figures released Monday by Nielsen Media Research gave the broadcast a 5.7 overnight rating and a 13 share.

The Brickyard 400 rating built every half hour and peaked with a 7.3 during the final 15 minutes from 6-6:15 p.m. as Bill Elliott took the checkered flag for the second straight week.

The rating is the percentage of all homes with TVs, whether or not they are in use. Overnight ratings measure the 53 largest TV markets in the United States, covering about 65 percent of the country.
