Check out a short list of favorites for Sunday's GFS Marketplace 400 at Michigan International Speedway:

Kurt Busch
Busch
Kurt Busch:
Survived two caution flags and held off a late charge by Bobby Labonte to win the Sirius Satellite Radio 400 here on June 15; it was his seventh career victory and third this season, which is one behind Ryan Newman for the series lead; since that victory, he has two top-10 finishes; was 12th at the Sirius at the Glen, the second and final road race of the season; has been eighth in the points standings the last four weeks.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Junior
Dale Earnhardt Jr.:
Has been on the pole twice at this event, setting the qualifying record in 2000, but has never won it; since 1999, has qualified worse than seventh only once here; after starting first here last year, led 37 laps, but finished 10th; best result at this track came this past June, when he finished seventh in the Sirius 400; remained second in the standings, 258 points behind Matt Kenseth, after finishing third in the Sirius at the Glen.

Jeff Gordon
Gordon
Jeff Gordon:
Was the pole-sitter and in third entering the final lap at Watkins Glen, but was bumped by Kevin Harvick and settled for 33rd place; has finished 24th or lower in three of the last four races, but has remained third in the standings the last three weeks; started sixth and finished third at the Sirius 400 in June; has 15 top-10 finishes in 21 career starts at Michigan; has been among the top five 14 times here, including a win in August 1998 and another from the pole in 2001.

Kevin Harvick:
Jumped two spots to fifth in the standings after finishing fifth at Watkins, where he bumped Jeff Gordon on the final lap; was fourth at Watkins before getting passed by Jimmie Johnson on the final lap; Michigan International Speedway is like a second home for the Winston-Salem, North Carolina resident as his primary sponsor, GM Goodwrench Service Plus, has its headquarters in Grand Blanc, Michigan; "Every year we go up to visit their headquarters and meet with employees," Harvick said. "It's a great opportunity for us to say thanks to them individually for their support."; is one of three drivers in the top 10 to have finished all 22 races this year.

Dale Jarrett
Jarrett
Dale Jarrett:
Survived a spin and a slide across the tri-oval grass on the 11th lap and went on to take the lead with five laps en route to his 30th career victory here last year; has four career victories here, tied with Daytona for his most at any track; three of those wins have come on August 18, including the first one of his career in 1991; moved up one spot in the standing to 27th after finishing seventh at Watkins Glen; has finished in the top 10 in the standings every year since he was 13th in 1995.

Jimmie Johnson:
Has been fourth in the points standings after each of the last three races; passed Kevin Harvik on the final lap at Watkins Glen to finish fourth; the runner-up to Ryan Newman for Rookie of the Year in 2002, Johnson leads all drivers in earnings with $3,877,730; last year, led 25 laps in the Sirius 400 en route to a 14th-place finish and was seventh in this event; started 11th and finished 16th here in June.

Bobby Labonte:
Captured his second pole of the year at the Sirius 400, but could not overtake Kurt Busch despite a late charge as he finished 0.774 seconds behind; followed that performance with a pair of top-10 finishes, but has been no better than 14th in his last five races; "It sure is a big difference since the last time we were there," he said about returning to Michigan. "We haven't been running terrible, but have had no real racing luck on our side the last month or so it seems."; hopes a return to one of his favorite tracks will change that as he has three victories and 14 top-10 finishes in 22 career starts here.

Ryan Newman:
Had a scary moment at the Sirius 400 in June, when his Dodge Intrepid burst into flames heading into turn 3 on lap 37, managed to guide the car to the low side of the track in turn 4 and hurriedly jumped out the driver's side window; the 2002 Rookie of the Year leads all drivers with four victories, but is ninth in the standings; has top-10 finishes in all but one of his last five races, with an 11th-place showing at the Brickyard 400; started 13th and finished ninth and Watkins Glen after a nasty crash in practice.

The car is owned by Teresa Earnhardt, widow of Dale Earnhardt, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. It will feature the names and faces of the members of 3 Doors Down, a popular rock band. "Dale Earnhardt helped me out a lot in my rookie year and I have always had a great respect for what he did for our sport," Stewart said. "Junior and I thought this would be fun. He wants to call the race from the pit box and I want to race one of his cars."; started second and finished eighth at the Sirius 400 in June and finished second in this event last year.

Rusty Wallace:
Five of his 54 career victories have come at Michigan Speedway, most recently the Pepsi 400 in 2000; has six career road course victories, including Watkins Glen in 1987 and 1989, but finished 37th Sunday after starting fifth; victory here in 2000 came in a Ford and won here in 1989 in a Pontiac; fell two spots in the standings to 13th after Watkins; has not finished lower than ninth in the standings since 1992, when he was 13th.
